Hello. My name is Kelley. I just found & joined last night & I'm so glad I found this site! I'm 26, married w/ 2 wonderful kids (ages 1 & 2). I have already lost about 40 pounds since my second child was born & I would like to lose another 40-50 pounds. I am 5'5" & 179 lbs. Before our kids were born, I was about 120-125 lbs. & wore a size 5/6 7/8. My dream is to get back down to that weight & keep it there.
I also want to get my stomach toned & tightened up, my biggest problem area. My other big problem areas are: hips, thighs, backside & upper arms. I want to get those slimmed down & toned up, but I don't want to wind up getting bulky or looking like a female bodybuilder. Not that there's anything wrong with that, lol, but it's just not for me.
I'd like to know how much I can eat. I do cardio 45-60 minutes a day for 5-7 days a week & I walk a mile with my mom about 3 times a week & I've just started my new regimen of training from this website. I have noticed the more I exercise, the hungrier I get & I'm afraid of eating more than I can burn off. I would like to lose about 2-3 pounds a week. Can anyone tell me how many calories I can consume to achieve this goal? Can I eat whenever I'm hungry, or do I have to deal with a little hunger now & then?
Another question I have is about how many grams of carbs I should have a day. I'm afraid I'm eating too many carbs & not enough protein. I'm not much of a meat eater & I don't get much protein through the foods I eat, mainly because I'm such a picky eater. I can tolerate those protein bars, but I absolutely cannot stomach the protein drinks. Are there any more options for me to get more protein in my diet while not forcing myself to eat foods I don't like & how much should I be getting?
I look forward to meeting all of you & I hope we will be able to reach our fitness goals & keep them for life.
Thanks so much, Kelley

welcome to FT. I know what you are going through, my wife is in the same boat right now. What kinds of meat do you eat and how much? You can use the bars but there are other foods that can give you protein rather than just meat. You should also eat 6 small meals a day. you should add some weight training in your exercise and drink plenty of water. Good luck.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes, I have a 5 day training program from this website. I like chicken & turkey, but I eat very little red meat or pork & I can't stand seafood! I'm not big on beans; peanut butter's okay, but too fattening. I love cheese, cheese is one of my weaknesses, & unfortunately, fattening.
What actually qualifies as a "small meal"? How much is too much? I mean, when does it become a "large meal?
Thanks again.
