I tried to write my personal profile, dont know if it went through. I am having a hell of a time getting no more than 23 grams of fat in my diet!!! Today, If I stick with eating like 600 calories, I will be consuming 25 grams of fat. This is crazy. Any suggestions on no fat no carb foods out there? I am 19 yo, 138 LBS, 5'4
I am going to start the free trainer at home ab workout, and I do Tae Bo 4 days a week. I want to lose 15 lbs in a healthy, permanant way by adapting to a healthier lifestyle including more excersise and better food choices.

Turkey fish lean meats most beans green veges will fill the bill. Take a look at the FT nutritional section. Welcome to the board. It will take a little research on your part but the answers are here.

Your profile went through. You can see it in the bottom of the post where it says "view profile".
For your fat intake, only choose good fats.
There is a good list on the site if you do a search for "Body builers Grocery list" you will see good foods.
Cut out white carbs and processed foods. You will be making a wise change.
Welcome to FT and enjoy yourself.
Ask lots of questuions.

Thanks. Nuts are good fats, right? I ate too much trail mix and dried fruit today. I'll watch that from now on. Im working real hard to cut all the bread and (processed foods? I like the string cheeses!) :)
Tonight, its a romain lettuce salad topped with a can of tuna and chopped garlic.
Thanks so much for the replies

Very understandable, do it gradually and start your kiddie off on the right foot.
For the nuts, walnuts and almonds are good. Try and have more protein in general as it is the main building block in our bodies. For your cheese try the low fat. And if you like cottage cheese go for low fat and it has tons of protein.
Hope this helps

Most diets that require no carbs such as 'Protein Power' and Atkins (Someone can correct me if I'm wrong) require you to rely on foods that are relatively high in fat. The rationale being that by severely restricting carb intake you force your body into ketosis. During this state your body utilizes fats in a somewhat different way (chloesterol goes down, fat is burned as primary fuel source, etc.) It will be difficult to maintain a diet that is no fat AND no carb. It would be better to have a well rounded diet with high protein, moderate, good carbs, and good fats. The nutritional section and message boards, and the advice given above will give you direction in this area. I'm not saying that your diet won't work but that a diet has to be something that, not only works for you, but something that you can live with consistently. Good Luck.

Good point Agamble. IMO, the severity of the Atkins (and anything similar) diet does not lend to making one's diet more consistent...a lifestyle.

Good luck!

I also agree. atkins is way to severe. But... What would a moderate amount of carbs be? 100?

Since your goal is to lose a relatively small amount of weight and time is not a major concern. I would suggest no more than 125-150gr. per day. That would be 500-600 calories from carbs. That is really an approximation. A better way would be to track your calories in order to get a baseline. Read your food labels. Try to get a good idea what you are eating every day. Start at 12-15 calories per lb. of body weight. Divide your calories into 5-6 smaller meals per day. Make sure you eat breakfast and try to eat some protein each meal. Evaluate your progress after 2 weeks. Adjust 250 calories per day either up or down based on your progress. Also consider adding a strength training routine into your fitness plan. Hope this helps.
