Hi,
I am new here. I am a 24 year old female, new to diet and exercise. Never had to care about this stuff because I was always very thin. Then I had a child and four years later, I finally realized that I better get things together.
So, now I weight 145 pounds. I lost 15 pounds last month doing Atkins. I stopped for about two weeks and am ready to do it now for good.
So my diet is about 1200 calories a day. I am under 20 grams of carbs per day.
I joined curves and I go there 5 times a week, 30 minutes. It is all tension machines and cardio in between the machines. I also do 30 minutes of cardio at night and some ab exercises and leg lifts for 30 minutes.
My goal weight is 120 pounds and toned.
I am going to look around and read.
Any comments on what I am doing would be great.

Welcome secret to freetrainers. Congrats on getting back into a healthy lifestyle
According to your weight and activity you should be at around 1885 calories a day, of which you should be getting more carbs than you are now, because eventually with all your resistance training and cardio you will find your body starving for fuel.
We are like car engines, we have to fuel them all the time with good quality fuel to get good milage.
Try getting more carbs, good quality complex carbs, not refined.
You might want to look at a program on here.
Good luck.

Thanks. I do have to do some searching. Looking forward to it actually.
But...by telling me to eat more carbs, you don't think the Atkins diet is a good one?? Curious..

I'm not saying the diet is not good. One can only stay on a "diet" for so long, then what?
So it's better to eat clean food all you want all the time.
But like Sandy said check out the other forum.

Hi Secret. You'll find a lot of good stuff on this site and plenty of help and experience from the people.
As for Atkins you will lose quite a bit of weight on it but personally I don't think it's healthy long term.
It does, however, make you have a look at what you're eating and that's good.
Nothing wrong with carbs, in there place, ie along with a good diet of proteins and fats.
All the best and I'm sure you'll succeed in your goals.
