Alright.. well to start, im 17 years old around 5'9, 165. Im not a skinny guy at all, but im also not fat. So i figured this would be a good stage to start working my body out, not so much buffing up and becomming a big guy, but im more trying to tone my self out, get rid of some of this excess fat and just shape out my body, you know?

Well, i tried a few workouts around my house for some weeks.. like pushups and some curls and situps.. didnt really do much, i didnt expect much though. I been searching sites, and ads and just looking for some help on getting started up so i found freetrainers, hoping yall could help me out.

Now, what im looking for is just a workout plan someone could suggest for me.. like a daily or every other day or whatever (thats up to you) type plan. Pref a home-friendly one.. like basic pushup/siutup/pullup/curls workout and also one you would suggest for a gym. .because im going to be signing up to one very soon.

And also i was wondering if when signing up to a gym is there any suggestions or anything should know to do/not do when getting a membership and attending that gym?

Thanks alot to whoever may help.. everyone starts somewhere.

First off welcome to FT gimik. There just happens to be a training program for home here on the site. Click on the links at the top and follow them to make your choice.

Tips on joining a gym??? Not really much to it, feeling comfortable is probably a biggie. I would suggest scoping out a gym at its busiest times, usually dinner hour or so, from 5 pm to 6:30 or so. This is the time the majority of folks will be there(including the "meatheads") and you should see if you feel comfortable. If it is really crowded, a bunch of loud heavyweights, etc., you may think about investigating a place more to your liking.

Distance is a biggie...usually if a gym is too far, you will eventually after the initial euphoria kind of start to view it as too far, and make excuses not to go.
