Supplements can be a great aid with your health and fitness goals. Combined with the proper exercise and nutritional plan they can be quite effective.

I have lifted weights and engaged in bodybuilding since I was 18 years old (On and Off). I have taken many different kinds of supplements (protein powders, amino acids, anabolic steroid packs, etc.) but I have never tried creatine. After a layoff from the sport, for about 8 years, I am getting back into it again.I was hoping someone with more experience than myself could advise me on the proper dosage and frequency for someone who is using creatine for the first time. Thank you for any and all advice.

Well, the only real debate concerning dosage is the loading phase. I happen to personally believe it is advantageous, and have always done it. This consists of taking equal 5 gr. doses 4 times per day for 5 days. Then, a maintenance dose of 5 gr. per day, or 10gr. if you prefer(5 before and after training). You may get by the other argument is with not loading, it will take longer to saturate the msucles with it this way, but it will still work. Why waste all that time, if this is even true? You use ATP fairly quickly, thus the case for loading. I am not sure if you really can build up an adequate supply without loading. But either way, the choice is yours. It doesn't matter either whether you are using creatine for the first time of the fiftieth time, it is the same dosage. Hope this helps some.
