Hello. I just joined yesterday, and have already started on my workout plan. I think i was over training, with the routine i was using. I find this site to be very helpful, just what i was looking for. I'm feeling the result of my morning workout. Thanks.

Good to see you like it.. Just wondering.. what was your last program like if it was overtraining?.. Was it a split, a program you find somewhere else, or just something you made up?

Hi, thanks for the response. I was doing a program i more or less made up, working all the major mussle groups during the workout, 3 days a week. Took me 2 hours to do them all, so from what i've seen, i guess i was overtraining.
I'm wanting to drop the weight, started out at 281 in dec. with my first visit with the cardiologst, now down to 266-270 after i got settled into my workout and walking etc.
After visiting this site, i've changed my diet, and my workout program. Thanks

Why don't you sign up for one of ft's programs? You can then modify it to tailor to your goals. At least you'll have a good baseline to start...

What about some cardio work as well?

Total body work out three times a week is a lot. Try one of FT's great exercise programs and tell us how you feel about it.

Good luck!!

I started using one of ft's programs yesterday, one that was designed for me by ft, yesterday. Started a day late(tuesday instead of monday, just joined monday evening, better late than never), and already feel the fruits of my labor for the first workout day. I always start with about 10-15 minutes of cardio on the treadmill before weight trainig, then try to follow up with 10 - 15 minutes after on a stationary bike, or walk, or ride my bike around town.On my off days from weights, i walk on the treadmill, if it's to bad to go out, or ride my bike, sometimes i do both. I'm trying to delete and stay off meds that hender muscle tone and development.

Cool! However, may I make another suggestion? Save your energy for weight training by not doing cardio before. Either do it at another time during the day, or on days you are not lifting. This way, you are using your glycogen stores just for lifting!

Thanks rpacheco. I'll try doing the cardio after i lift. I was using it to warm up. There's so many opinions about cardio before lifting and not doing it before. I'll give it a try.
