Hi! My name is Jackie, I'm 13 and currently living in Pennsylvania. I'm here for moral support and advice. Right now I'm five foot zero and weigh 169lbs. I'm really scared for my health as high blood pressure and heart disease run on both sides of my family, as well as the risk for diabetes. So any and all support is welcome. Right now my doctor says I should try to get down to somwhere between 100-110 lbs, as a long term goal, but for now, just try to lose about a pound to two pounds a week. So...yea....

Eat 5-6 times a day with small healthy foods, and do some cardio.

Welcome pixie. As usual gangstershoes is right on the money. I would add the following.

Cut out sugar and transfats. That means eat no sweets, no food that comes ready to eat right out of the box for the most part. Drink water instead of soda. Play outside....alot. Don't undereat. Starving yourself is the most sure fire way to make your body hold onto fat. Stick around this board and read and ask questions. welcome here kiddo.

I'd just second what Charlie said. If you want to be healthy, live healthily - never starve yourself. Eat 5 - 6 small meals a day, eat unprocessed foods (ie don't eat junk food if possible), keep the fatty foods you eat down to a minimum and substitute fruit for sweets. Also, be sure to eat if you are hungry rather than because you are bored.

Also, play out with your pals as often as possible and be as active as you can sports-wise. If you have a leisure centre near you, check it out to see if there are any fun activities which appeal to you. Involve yourself in sports at your school too.

Last year I lost 5 stones - I have very little self discipline but it's not difficult to lose weight so be optimistic. The only good way to lose weight is to change your lifestyle so you live heathily - exercise regularly, eat a good diet, etc.

Good luck. And don't be afraid to post a message on these boards any time you have a question - the people who use this site are good and quite happy to help if you have any probs.
