Hi, I am here for the same reason everyone else is. I want to lose weight, but I don't just want to lose weight I want to change my lifestyle. I and 5.2 and I weigh 175lbs. I hate saying that and I am miserable that I have let myself go that much. I had a son two years ago and have only been gaining since. I want to be able to go out in some nice cloths without having to worry about me looking fat. I want to look good for my husband and I for myself. I am trying to lose at least 45lbs before summer but I am also wanting to tone my body and become more fit. It has been hard so far because I havn't been very motivatied. I am a stay at home mom and we don't go out much. I don't have a very active lifestyle but I want that to change. Any advice that anyone has would be very much appreciated. Let me know what is working for you. The hardest thing I have trouble with is food and changing the way I eat so if you know any type of info that might help with that let me know. If you have any questions or just want to talk message me. Thanks for reading my rant.

hmm ... rants are good though. Let's us know the type of person you are :)
My name is Tess and I am also a stay at home mom with a 7 month old. I manage to get some excersise in when I'm cleaning. When you're sweeping, put some music on and dance, make it fun and you'll be surprised at how much your heart rate will increase. Same thing with the vaccuum. It's not much for now, but it's a start. :)

Hi littlemomma and emp. Welcome to Freetrainers.
LM, the single best thing you can do for starters is cut out processed foods and sodas. Combine it with something like the whole body workout found here in the exercise section. If you haven't been active for a while you're probably going to lose some weight kind of quickly. Then it will slow down. It's great that you're looking at it as a lifestyle change because it is just that.
We are doing a challenge here for new people and over 40s. You may want to join the group with that heading and play along. There will be support given and received. It started a week ago but there is no particular time limit on joining.
Glad you've made the choice.

Ladies, great start! And the questions are fantastic too. All of the above suggestions are great and here are a few more that are available to you.
1. At home workout program (available on here at the top of the page, click 'Exercise') This program allows you to work out in the comfort of your own home with minimum exercise equipment or none at all. Just follow the steps and you will be on your way to a great session that will get you started.
2. Own a DVD player or have Cable? - Pilates is a great source of exercise for the whole body and specifically aiding in toning and strengthening your core section as well as weight loss. Combine this with Yoga and you will be doing great stretching as well to work out those kinks your body is not used to that comes along with exercising. You can find workouts dvds cheap on Amazon.com, Walmart and many other places or look it up in your fitness section of your cable. There are so many free ones to choose from there, it isn't limited to Pilates or yoga, it has specific training and lots of fun cardio workouts.
3. Park or school nearby? - There's nothing like putting your kids in a stroller and going for a brisk walk on a pathway that could eventually progress into jogging. You can even perform HIITS (High Intensity Interval Training) which helps increase your metabolism and burns more fat as a higher rate.
4. Stairs in your home? Step climbing is a great cardio exercise as well as tightning up of your abs, legs, buttocks.
There are endless ways to stay or get in shape. Good luck!
