Hi, I am an old lady trying to be a young person, at least in my body. I have many health problems, but my doctors tell me I must try to get about 30 lbs. off me so I don't live in so much pain. I have tried so many different things that I am at my wits end. I am to the point I am not the least bit motivated to do anything but sit and suffer. I need emcouragement and some motivation from someone before I become a blimp. Any heal would be greatly appreciated.
I'm 58 and recently lost 62lbs, it took almost a year and the one thing I told myself at the beginning was to accept the fact that I had to go slowly. I ate between 1200 and 1400 low-fat calories a day, did 10 mins of light strenght training (used an article from Prevention magazine) each morning and did Kathy Smith's March to Fitness video in the evening - I could only do the first and last thirds. I'm now doing 1hr of strength training 3x week and a minimun of 40 mins cardio 4x week and eating between 1500-1600 cals per day.
PamCan, thanks for coming back to me. I am not a patient person when it comes to things like this. I want instant results, just like all the other things in life are today. I think I will get some carb smart foods when I go to the grocery store next week. I get a disability check every month and the month runs out before the money a lot of times. My brother was diagnosed with diabetes this summer and my husband has had it for about 21 years. My brother has been having pretty good success with the low carb things and my husband has begun to buy some of the low carb things also. I guess I will have to go to that to start, and then see how things work out in several months.
Again, thanks for your input. That is a start. Just remember to remind me every now and then that I have to take it "SLOW".
