Hi all just a post to tell u a little about myself. I'm a 28 yr old single mum with 2 yr old son and have spent the last few months getting my body prepared for "the next step". I don't believe in just doing everything at once or it can shock your body (I'm not sure of any medical proof of that just speaking from experience) so for example I quit smoking a few months ago, gave up coffee and so on. It's working well so far, I'm not missing anything I have given up, I suppose because it was gradual and not an all-at-once spur of the moment thing. Instead it was a major decision to improve my own health that I made about 6 months ago.

So onto phase 2 I suppose. Not having alot of money and not having easy access to a gym with childcare or anything like that, I knew I would need to try something else to start with. My lovely mother (who happens to work for electronics store) gave me a Wii as a present so I invested a small amount of money and traded in some of the games she gave me and bought myself a Wii fit. I like it so far, does anyone else have thoughts on this subject?

Anyway, I soon realised that it wasn't going to be all that I required to meet my goals etc... so I began googling. I've found free pod casts to listen to while working out and all sorts of stuff, but by far my best discovery so far, was of course the FT website. Since my situation hasn't changed with childcare etc., and I am therefore limited to home workouts... it really was perfect. So many websites expect you to at least own weight benches and free weights!!! Well im not quite up to that stage yet lmao.

I have lost 3kg so far combining cardio and the home based workouts, and I understand some of this is probably water weight and thats fine too, because I already feel better for it, lots more energy and not wanting to sit still lol. Anyway, that's all I can think of for now, nice to meet you all, keep up the inspiring posts and I will keep reading them :D

Congrats on all of your successes so far! I think your approach is great - so many people do try and do it all at once and get overwhelmed. Step by step is the only way to get anywhere.

Welcome to ft!:)

(and Tank girl is one of my all time fave comic characters!!!!)

lol ty for the welcome and I'm glad that somebody remembers her humble beginnings, unfortunately I've never gotten my hands on any of the comics ony the movie. I love her spontaneity and how she does what she believes in always no matter what the stakes are!!! It's a lesson for us all I think...
