Hello everybody. I just joined your group and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Carrie. I am 39 years old and very out of shape. I had Gastric Bypass Surgery in August of 2002. When I started out I was 354 pounds. Now I am 165. At 6' tall my doctor is happy with my weight. Personally I'd like to loose a few more pounds but I think that I am still feeling "fat" due to excess skin and also due to the fact that I haven't exercised. I may not be able to fix the skin..it's stretched and shrank so many times it lost elastic a long time ago but I know that I can improve my tone and build up what muscle I have left so I can be strong and healthy for years to come. Right? LOL.. I am eating pretty healthy. I sort of follow the South Beach Diets way of eating and I am not experiencing any regain. I would like any advice you all can give me on navigating this site and getting the most benefit from it. I do not have money for equipment or gyms. I mean I can afford some hand weights but no big equipment. I do have a treadmill and a few work out video's that I haven't used yet. I can't do anything for the next couple of weeks that requires getting out of my chair though because I had surgery on my leg and I am only to get up to go the bathroom, nothing else until it heals. I figured I could use this time to gather a plan of action :). Thanks for any advice you can give me. Carrie

Welcome, Carrie! I don't know much about the surgery, but your weight loss is commendable! You must feel so much more energetic! Good for you! When you filled out your profile, did you fill out the one that helps you with an exercise program, too? They have some great help there! You can also look to the bottom of the page and fitBuddy is a great way to look up specific areas you may like information in that have already been posted.

I hope that you are feeling better soon with your leg surgery and look forward to hearing more from you!
