if you are only eating about 3000 now I would just make a 1000 cal jump. Do it slowly maybe 200 ever two weeks. You are going to get fat if you just add 1000 cal a day to your diet.

Since this thread is about protein powders, I want to throw out a question about them. I read an article that said whey protein is absorbed so fast by the body that most of it winds up being converted into glycogen/glucose, resulting in a major blood sugar spike. I'm trying to add more protein into my diet quickly and easily, but I don't want that glycemic spike. Can anyone recommend a good protein powder for general meal supplements? (i.e. throwing a scoop into my oatmeal in the mornings, and an evening shake etc.) I'm not talking about pre or post workout. A brand recommendation would really help, too. Thanks in advance.

Try TrueProtein.com This is a great site and cheap cheap. I don't know about the protein spike..but if it was converted that fast there wouldn't be much need for the Malto & Dextrose.
