Hello guys & gals;
I am following my program religiously and I completely see a change in my body and even my energy level.
I have a problem though: FOOD. I am not used to eating too much. I eat TOO HEALTHY. I do not eat much meats: Most of my meals consist of chicken & vegetables (and other vegetables), protein bars, cereals, fruits (pineaple and peaches). So, I feel that I am not eating right.
Any suggestions out there?
Also, any suggestions as to what kinda food is good to eat right after a late night workout? I usually get home from the gym at around 9 or 9:30pm. I eat canned corn a lot, is that good? bad? Any other suggestions? What you guys eat?
Please help me out if you can.
THANKS IN ADVANCE,
MARIANO

Hey Mariano. Considering that you are in the intermediate and advanced bodybuilding board, the answer is, unless you are dropping weight for contest definition, EAT LIKE A HORSE.
You need tons of meat and protein shakes to rebuild those hard-ripped muscles. You need potatoes, rice, and such to replinish glycogen stores. Wanna get freaky? Eat freaky. Check out the ABCDE plan. I'm on it. It cycles heavy eating and cutting to maximize a number of variables, like testosterone. People have gained a lot of lean mass off of it.
Do a search for ABCDE then follow the links to the articles. At any rate, eating like a bird won't make you look like a stallion.

Remember, the key is not eating a lot of food...just in the frequency (i.e. 5-7 small meals per day). You have to eat often and make sure there is sufficient amount of protein. That doesn't necessarily mean meat.
As far as food to eat late night, I would recommend casein-type foods.
Good luck!

Canned vegetables are not that great for you (but I eat them because I hate frozen vegetables). Corn is not one of the best either. Try to stick with green vegetables. Egg whites are really good to eat later at night or a protein shake. The protein will help to repair the muscles while you sleep without the carbs/fat settling in.

Perfect...
I am grocery shopping as soon as I get back from work!
Thanks again!
I have been so busy with work and working out that I forgot how helpful this place (board) is..

I would definitely not do the corn, especially late night. Corn is a very dense caloric food, and may not be the best at night. After your training, get your protein/glutamine (fast acting) in you. Then eat a normal good high protein meal about 1 1/2 hurs later if you are still up. If you think you need more, cottage cheese, skim milk, and protein shake can be beneficial before bed. Slow releasing caseain proteins to prevent the entire night catabolism. You amy even want to make a shake, put ice in it, and put it by your bed. If you wake up during the night to do your nightly "duties", have a big chug. I would not intterupt my sleep for it, but if you do wake, this is a good practice on a gaining diet.
-------------- As far as genetics go, the skies the limit. You are limited only by your mental perception of it.
