I started the beginners home weight training and have been at it for two weeks, going into my third week and I have not lost any weight. I am staying the same weight. I feel stronger and can actually do most of the sets and are going to move my weights up a few pounds. I do cardio on my rest days. I eat a good carb, good fat diet (south beach). Can anyone give me any advice or tips to boost my weight loss.

through the scale away
weight is only half the truth
BF% is a good indication, take pics every few weeks.
enter your data to mybodycomp.com page, you could have added some muscle.

diet wise, I am not sure I will let somebody more knowledgable then me reply to that one.

look at inches lost not weight.......heres an example from myself.......before I started working out in high school I was about 275/ 280lbs at around 5'10 with a 48 in waist.

now i'm about 6' almost 6'1" and i'm about 260 lbs with a 39in waist.........i'm only 15lbs away from my old weight, but i'm much smaller? Why? muscle is more dense( weighs more) but takes up less space than fat.

heres another example.......5lbs of fat loooks abotu like a big bar of soap......its active and always burns calories, weither your sleeping or jogging.

5lbs of fat however.....looks like a big roll of tollet paper, maybe a lil bigger.......its does nothing, but make you feel and look bad.

stop worrying about the scales....if yoru pants are getting looser.....then your doing fine.

Thanks Andrew, your post makes me realize that I just need to stay with it. Yes pants getting looser, clothes have alot more room in them. Also feel stronger. Wow a cheerleader, my 12 YO DD would love you. Does your squad go to nationals? If so let me know we always watch them on espn.

This is exactly about the time most people throw in the towel rather than stick with it, so you are right to heed the advice and keep going! Your body is undergoing a transition and you must keep patient :) It will all work out for you if you stick to your goals and make adjustments when necessary along the way rather than stop. Good luck to you (and to you, bigandrew!)

Well I have to say that everything I have been informed of on this forum is correct. I have lost a few lbs.,but I can fit into old jeans that I had in my closet that I could not even get over my butt a few months ago. They are a little snug in the stomach but I wore them anyway to make myself feel better today. Thanks. TONITE I WEIGHT TRAIN!
