Hello all..
names Chris...
was wondering if anyone here could shed a little light on my situation.
After doing some research Ive found that my body should burn 3300 or so calories a day just to stay alive.
Im 230 lbs by the way. I dont eat 3000 calories a day..as far as I can gather.
So my question is if I dont get enough calories to begin with...and my body uses 3300 or so to remain alive...then where do the other calories come from? Do they come from the fat? And if so, why am I not losing weight if I I am already note getting enough to keep me alive?
any advice is appreciated...thanks.

Hey Chris, the stuff I have read says that would be alot of calories to eat every day, wondering if you are gaining weight? There are some formulas to finding your calorie intake or electronics, but you will know by the food you eat, if you count calories and the excercise you do, how many calories you can have. We all have control over what we want to weigh. Just takes some time to learn and discipline to follow the way.

thanks for the replies guys...
I found that number on a few sites...
Even this one...after setting up a fitness plan of weight loss and toning and a nutritional plan of weight loss...
it tells me I need 3574 calories as a daily requirement.
Another site says I need 3300 or so to be alive..lol..
Im 5'8 230lbs 30yrs old....
Ive entered these numbers in on numerous sites and this is what theyre tellin me...
I figure after beatin it to death in my head...
that I should only need about 23-2500 to lose a pound a week with 3 to 4 days of 30 minute workouts.
what you guys think?
Im missing something here

Well.... if you're looking for the amount to stay alive, that would be BMR, basal metabolic rate, which is different than if you are trying to lose or gain weight.

The 23-2500 sounds about right to me.

This site estimates high.

The recommended daily intake of calories for men is 2500, isn't it? Which would mean if you're looking to lose weight and still keep your energy and blood sugar levels up you should be eating 2000 - 2300 calories, depending on how much exercise you're doing on a daily basis.
Then again, I'm a newbie, and a woman, so don't quote me on that. Lol. I just know for a woman it's 2000 recommended and around 1500 - 1750 calories a day for steady weight loss.

That's likely average and not the same for everyone... each person is different, depending upon age, weight, height, and goals.

Like I said Tim, I'm both a newbie, and a woman.
