Hey guys, I know you've all probably heard this kind of post a thousand times, but Im getting sort of fed up with no gains. Im doing kind of my own mass program, which consists of heavy eating, 1g protein per body weight/day, creatine and heavy weight lifting, and plenty of rest. I know these are all the fundamentals needed to gain mass. The only thing I'm worried about is that I havent gained any weight at all! I'm still stuck at aroudn 165-167, and i figure creatine would help me out with that by now. And Ive been on creatine for close to 2 weeks now, including the loading phase. And not to mention Ive been working out and eating for at least two months. I know i have gains i muscle size, but not really MASS. I want to be big where people will notice it without having to flex, and it seems that i never really get any credit or recognition from people unless I flex, and I'm still even not that big. It seems like muscle such as my arms, just look like they get bigger when I flex, But the thickness of my body stays the same. And it stil makes me look skinny. Could It be possible that I just have a extremely fast metabolism or something? because even my dad is a big eater like me, and he doesn't gain much weight. Even before I started try9ing to gain mass, I could still eat alot. Do I jsut have to eat a ton of food then? and good foood at that?
Here is an example of what I would eat in a day: 1)2 slices wheat toast, cereal, and fruit 2)a turkey sandwhich on wheat, handful of almonds, and whater 3)cold turkey sub, whole wheat chips, water 4) Bowl of cereal, turkey sandwhich on wheat 5) chicken, and veggies 6) Peanut butter and Jelly sandhiwhc on wheat, yogurt, milk This is about what I eat in a day, plus protein and creatine shakes. And I really have not gained much mass. Do I just have to start eating More? 2 sandwhiches, or 2 yogurts, or 2 bowls of cereal instead of 1? Please help thanks |

I filled out my profile, I weigh 165 lbs, and I am 5'11. I am also 17 years old. My current training schedule is as follows:
Day1:(tris)dips behind the back, lying tricep extensions, and bent behing the back raises 2)(Bis) Hammer Curls, revers barbell curls, and standard barbell or dumbell curls (not both) 3) rest 4)(chest) Incline bench press, or flyes(not both) standard bench press (barbell, or dumbell) and flyes 5)(shoulds) front dumbell raises, standing lateral raises, and sitting triangle above the head raies. 6) (back) one arm dumbell rows, and shrugs (not back) (all done with 4 sets 12x10x8x6) This is pretty much all the excercises I do, I workout at home because I have a lot of free weights and a bench and dumbells and barbells and what now. Also, I usually sometimes combine workouts on certain days, and switch around workouts on certain days. I also do not do all of the workouts listed on each day. For example on chest day I do not do incline bench plus flyes, simply one or the other. |

if you are looking to gain weight, in your case, you need to be consuming more calories. by my calcs, you need to be consuming at least 3500 cals a day, which i dont think you are getting with your current diet. a good bulking routine could be 40/40/20 p/c/f.

this 3500 cals is just a starting point too. with the formula i used, this will get you 1/2 a lb increase in weight a week THEORETICALLY. If you are looking to 1 lb a week, go for 3750 cals.. 2lbs go for 4250. heres the link if you're interested in doing it yourself.

Also your not working out your legs...if you want to gain weight wokring out legs will help you there. Your diet sucks man. Cereal sucks unless it is natural oatmeal (not that shit that comes in packets). Eats eggs and toast instead, add some fruit.Plus yur drinking water which does not give alot of calories, try drinking some more milk and maybe gatorade throughout the day (buy the gatorade powder in the container).Hardgainers can get away with drinking juice all day while people with slower metabolism cannot. Eat more meat. Maybe switch from protein powder to a good weight gainer to add more calories to your diet. Eat some tuna, cottage cheese ect. Also maybe try a different load/rep scheme? If your lifting heavy, maybe go down to moderate weight with moderate reps or vice versa.

I would agree with most of what was said, except a major disagreement regarding consuming less water. Pick up your food do NOT decrease water. Gatorade and juice are generally not good for you (post workout is the exception). eat eat eat. proteins, good carbs, good fats. lots of food
