I am new. I was surfing the internet. Found my bmi puts me as clinically obese:surprised:. Ok so I had a baby a year ago, then was in a head on collission with a drunk driver and spent 6 months in a wheel chair:(. It is almost understandable. But I have to do something because my Husband's bmi was a bit worse than mine, and I need to make some changes. I think he would work out more if I was doing it with him. Or maybe make it a compitetion. Just not sure what equipment I need to get to start. I did just purchase a gym ball and starting crunches and working on squats because with my knees and ankles all still very sore from all the surgeries over the last year I know I could do a stationary bike, but not sure if I should do a treadmill, bike, or an eliptical. With the eliptical, I like the over all of the gazelle, but don't know enough to actually purchase anything on what will overall help us out. As I am a pear shape and he is a pop belly (cute couple ).
I need help!!! any one out there with a little advise? As the miracle pill is still under construction some where.

Welcome to FT.

Have you checked with your doctor to see what you can and can't do?

I like the eliptical as it's easy on the joints and not jarring. How is walking? Is it uncomfortable?

Also, if you are able, some light weights (dumbells) is a good start, too.

And, a lot of weight can be taken off with a proper diet. Do some searching here for the millions of diet tips and ideas.

But, check with your doctor, if you haven't already, on what you are able to handle.

Thank you t.

As far as my doc says there isn't anything I can't do. My right ankle and heal will never ever bend as far as my left so hicking is out of the question, but everything is just sore and needs to get moving in order to help out. This is why I was looking at the eliptical or the stationary bike, but those plus some crunches and floor exercise, should help with the pear shape? shrink the mid section?

Walking gets uncomfortable after too long, this is why I wasn't sure about a treadmill. But I think if I work on it and keep it up walking won't be so uncomfortable if I just get working on it. But again I want the tummy hips and thighs to shrink, and not sure if a treadmill will do as much as I am wanting. does that make sense?

thanks again for the comment.

I'd stick with the eliptical. Much easier on the joints, but I'd also throw in some walking.

If you can, try some weight training, too. As for the tummy and midsection, that's mostly diet, along with exercise.
