I have a question regarding the ft diet plan.

It sets my calorie intake at 2517 calories. Should I try to get as close to this without going over or is it ok to be under by 100-200 calories??

I started writing down everything I ate yesterday trying to get as close as possible to the suggested nutrient intake. Here were my results:
goals are:
2517 calories, I consumed 2504
162g protein - " " 122g
31g fat - " " 32g
405g carbs - " " 463g

I was 18g over on carbs and 24g short on protein allowing for the +/- 10 % allowed according to the diet. I do not think this is bad considering it was the 1st day I have tried to hit the guidlines. Anyone have any suggestions or advice for me ??

First off these 'numbers' that are given by sites are simply generic formulas that spit out a number based on a certain criteria in the formula and what you answer.

This however may not be right for you. What you need to determine is with this amount of calories, what are you doing? Gaining, losing, maintaining??? Then make adjustments from that point.

For instance, I am quite sure you are trying to burn fat. I would never tell anyone to take in over 400 gr. of carbs to do this..the reason is even though protein and carbs have the same calorie amounts, carbs generally are not the 'quality' when you eat that many of them, in other words to get that much carbs one would probably be eating a good amount of bread, pastas, etc. Much easier to overeat this stuff than lean proteins.

I'm Maintaining and rarely hit over 200 Carb but also rarely hit under 230 Proteins and stay around 2250 to 2400.

A close to exact give or take a bit of this and that average of the last 5 days are:

2303 Calories
66.8 Fats
17.7 Saturated Fats
162 Carbs
243 Proteins

As BB1fit has stated above I take that on a 5 days basis and aburve from there and then make any adjustments that's needs and to ajust doesn't allways mean to raise or lower but to take a look at what you have eaten like breads, pastas, fruits and ect.

A mistake I made for a real long time was to ajust the intake rather then what I was intaking and everyones body is diferent and handles different types of foods differently. In my case it's Carbs rather Good or Bad Carbs I'm intollerant to consumming allot of them daily.
