i have heard many times oatmeal is a great food for those lifting due to the complex carbs it provides. However i noticed that per packet of non-regular oatmeal there are 13 grams of sugar. If you are like me and eat 4 packets of this stuff a day thats nearly an extra 50 grams of sugar. Is this sugar something to be concerned about???

Maybe buy the big bags of the stuff... I suspect these are the flavoured packets? We just grab the big bags of Quaker and we're all set...

Use the real stuff. No sugar and no preservatives. Also known as Porridge.

Do not use instant oats/quick oats. :) Use regular oats, add your own flavorings.

or you could try bob's red mill oats. they're a little thicker and cook well in the microwave or on the stove. they have an organic variety as well.

The store brand regular oats are fine or as hodie says, these are also good. Pre packaged(individually packaged) are normally as you pointed out in your post, lots of sugars. And they are higher glycemic in general due to thinner cut(thus quick or instant oats).
