I eat oats every morning with my breakfast and its never made me feel like that. Oats (with other stuff) are a great way to start your day for energy (at least IMO).-------------- - Its never about how much you can lift, or how many reps you do. Love my cup of oats in my shake in the AM. Some people call me a stoggy old man but they will get over it. I feel great.-------------- Some times life is like herding cats. Charlie

Oats are wonderful soluble fiber and a very good way to start the day. Breakfast for the most part should consist of some fibrous starchy carbs, and good lean proteins, with a bit of fruit if you prefer. The goal at breakfast, especially for someone trying to burn bodyfat is to induce the release of a low amount of insulin, but in no way an overproduction of it.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

BB1fit hit it right on. My first meal of the day at least 5 days a week is 2 servings of oat meal (along with my protein and fruit :) ). Also helps keep the bad cholesterol in check. So........ go eat your oatmeal!-------------- Michael Trample the weak; hurdle the dead! Chaos, Panic, Disorder.... Yes, my work here is done! rev8ball@freetrainers.com |

A bowl of oats completely fills me up in the am. Short of putting protein powder in it, how do I get in any proteins without gagging down something I neither want or have room for? I like oatmeal and would love to have that as my breakfast, but it doesnt give me much protein, even with milk. Any suggestions? Im sure Im not the only one who cant eat much first thing in the morning.-------------- ~Victoria~ ...Do not be discouraged; everyone who got where he is, started where he was.--anon ...There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.--Beverly Sills |

Victoria, my protein powder is about 35 grams per scoop. I use it with 3/4 cup eggwhites and 1 1/2 cup of oats 1 1/2 cup of skim milk and make a very tasty shake. I mainly started doing it because I am always in a hurry in the A.M. and didn't want to take the time to cook. The oats powder down great in the blender. I actually dont care for cooked oatmeal.-------------- Some times life is like herding cats. Charlie

There was a post about Brewer's Yeast being a good source of protein. I was thinking of adding some of that to my morning oatmeal to up the protein. I don't know how it would taste though. I put some wheat germ in it now for the added fiber. Kind of crunchy. I also add fruit (Strawberries/blueberries) Good start to the day.

agamble, flax meal would be a great addition to your oatmeal, a bit of a crunch with a storehouse of nutrients. Much more than just flax oil. I like Barleans brand. Go to their website and look it up, you will be amazed at the nutrient content. www.barleans.com
