Do you think obliques are effective for getting rid of love handles and therefore make the waist area thinner? If so, how is this possible since there is no such thing as spot reduction??
Some people say that working with weights on the waist will only make that are thicker since it will develop muscles. For a nice thin and Womanly waist (without love handles), is it better to work on the obliques or leave them alone?

By "obliques" I mean exercises for the oblique muscles.

I'll had great results getting a firmer and a nice thin waist by doing thousands of twists..... (look under FT exercises)
I've been doing that for years. No, I have never worked my obliques with any weights and I don't recommand that either.
You got love handles? Well, a diet would be the best way to get rid of them.....

hehe yes i really need to reconsider my diet. But I was wondering about the obliques because a couple of months ago a personal trainer told me to do Dumbell Side Bends. He said that would help me get rid of love handles.
Now that I started to try to get informed and read alot about bodybuilding I am really starting not to trust these trainers..
As for the twists, my gym doesn't have the appropriate machine for that. But I guess I could do Twisted Crunches instead.
Thanks for the advice

You don't need a machine to twist!!!! lol just get a broom, put it behind your neck (on your traps) and twist it away!!! (don't move your hips while twisting the upper body, if it's too hard to keep contracting your legs while standing then just sit down!!)
