I did a search here on creatine and I have seen mixed opinions on creatine's effects in water over time. I have read that once mixed with water creatine will break down into a compund called creatinine, which is toxic. I have also read on this site that this statement is not true.

I normally have an MRP about an hour before I get off of work and then head off to work out. I would like to just throw my creatine in my MRP so I don't have to make 2 seperate drinks at work.

I was wondering if maybe I could get some clarification on exactly what creatine does once mixed with water over a period of time and if it is OK for me to just throw in my creatine with my meal replacement.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Once you mix creatine with water or juice, you should consume right away.

Thanks for the reply.
It normally takes me 15-20 mins to finish my MRP... is that fast enough?

I would have my creatine on the side about 10 minutes into your MRP. Most MRP's contain some Maltodextrin for sweetner, so you will get a bit of a raise in blood sugars most probably. So, about 10 minutes into your drink or 15, you should have some serum insulin circulating, and this would be a good time to take it. There is no debate about it, creatine turns to a waste product creatinine in a very short period of time, even 15 minutes is too much.

Thanks bb1fit. That was exactly the answer I was looking for. I guess I will also have to make a seperate drink for my PWO shake as well, which isn't a big deal, I just want to be doing it the right way.

As someone who doesn't post much but reads all the time, thanks again for all your help bb1fit. I know I am not the only one who seeks out and really appreciates all your advice.

I was assuming you were taking your MRP post workout. (which is a bad idea by the way, but I was assuming if you must...)So when are you taking your creatine and the MRP? Ideally the creatine would be best about 20 minutes into your PWO shake(protein and simple carbs) on training days. On non training days, then with the MRP will be fine as mentioned will be fine.

I was asking about a pre workout shake. I normally have an MRP about an hour before I work out, just to put a little something in my stomach before I go. I also have whey protein right after I work out and then follow it with dinner about an hour to an hour and a half after that.

I wanted to know if I could throw in the creatine with the PRE workout shake. I assume this wouldn't be a good idea though as it takes me 15-20 mins to finish the MRP.
