how did u come up with twice the fat? veg type oils that i know of all sit right around 14g of fat per tablespoon.

as far as its goodness goes: among many things, olive oil has been shown to actually lower your bad cholesterol and raise your good cholesterol better than any other. it has also been shown to help decrease the risk of many types of digestive type cancers.

but still, take care of your fat intake... 14g is 14g.

To expound on that, the fats in olive oil are Monosaturated, which are the heart healthy kind. Not Satuarated. Monosaturated fats can actually help to change the ratio of your HDL(good) cholesterol, to LDL(bad) cholesterol. Could be actually beneficial in saving your life some day.

Thanks for the input. Michael I got the fat amounts from the lables on different types of oils. I had some extra light olive oil and it reads 9g fat / 1 tablespoon, veg oil read 5g/fat per 2 tablespoon, corn oil was the same 5g per 2 tablespoon. I know that it is higher than the others in the monosaturated fats, but isn't the poly unsaturats also the good type

One thing to keep in mind, the key to Cholesterol is not the total number, it is the ratio of good to bad..LDL to HDL. You can have a low cholesterol number, and it still be bad. Therefore where olive oil and monosaturated fats play it most extreme roll, in changing that ratio for the positive.
