Hello everyone, I have a problem with my elbows/arms. When I curl real heavy weight I get a extremely amount of pain on the outerside region of my elbows/outer arm. It feels like a shin split in the leg and it happens in both arms and hurts even when I set the weight down and then it kinda goes back to normal. I'm not sure what this is called and how to heal it. I know I should drop in weight but I have tried that and well it hasn't worked and I wanna keep my bicepts big with out cutting back in weight. If anyone knows it would be great thx.

I have something similar to this in my right forearm. It hurts quite a bit after a set.

I had pain in my joints before..... elbows, wrists, knees.

What worked for me is taking suplements like glucosamine, chondroitine and omega 3 & 6 oils. Now everything is okey and no more pain.

Maybe this can work for you as well.

Secondly try to strengthen your forearms and wrists with some weight exercises.

Yes...you can also add vitamin e to Nina's list of recovery and joint supplements.

For now, just ice after working out and don't go too heavy. If you neglect them too long, you will be at risk for injury.

What if it's not joint related?

Last time I checked, the elbows are joints...right? (LOL)

Anyway, even if they're not joint related, these supplements are great for recovery from injury or injury prevention. They are also listed in this month's issue of Physical magazine.

Heheh well Rock2k2 has problems in his elbows. Mine is in my forearms, but he described the pain pretty accurately so I piggy backed my question on his.

Rock- A couple of weeks ago I asked this very same question in regards to my wrists, forearms, and elbows when going heavy on tricep extensions and bicep curls. I have always experienced some mild discomfort, but now that my weights have increased so much, it has gotten worse. I am beginning the joint regimen as mentioned above, glucosamine, chondroitine and vitamin E. Also, I am warming up more, when working those exercises. Philia has mentioned before that when implementing a Chond. & Glucos. supp, it takes a month to get going. It seems to be working for me, the pain is ebbing slightly each week and I haven't curtailed the weight I use. However, initially, I took a week off after hitting my bi's and tri's really hard. It is hard to do, but each week I have taken off has directly translated into more gains and less pain. So, until you can start this regimen, or start feeling the benefits, I recommend a longer rest between workouts.

Good point, Ischjli. I really have noticed a big difference after taking a week off of a highly intensive training schedule. I'm sure the supps. help, too!
