ok, everyone tells me to go paralell on squates and i always have, but i been kinda stuck ina rut a lil bitm getting past a sticking point. So i have been starting ( expierementing with below paralell squats and i feel the burn morte in my quads, and i feel like my legs are worked more( can't do as much weight yet)
now my question is, all excercises should go ful range of motion, if we only go parelall aren't we forgetting about 1/3 of the motion?

Very good question, Andrew. I usually do squats 2x a week. I go heavy on Mondays and I do box squats on Fridays. I go parallel on my heavy days and deeeeep with the box squats. With box squats, your main goal is not to see how much you can lift, but how fast you can explode up to the starting position. That kind of explosive training will make you stronger much faster than any other method I've ever tried.
This is a great routine and the one that I base my heavy training on:

Follow the legs part (at least) and you'll never regret it.

go below parallel..your max will slowly come back, and you will notice a huge difference in definition and strength..it kills me at the gym when little guys are quarter squatting like 315 or so then think they are doing the same exercise you are... a note on the deep squats- keep your knees aligned to prevent injury, find a groove and keep your form perfect.. i also agree box squats are very good..but be careful to sit down very slowly, so your spine doesnt compress against the bench.

I started going below parallel about a year ago, and at first my squat went down, but it has since skyrocketed. I like what it does for my legs, but it is absolutely KILLER on the knees. since starting them, my knees have been hurting all the time, so don't overdo them. I definately would not go below parallel more than once a week
