I love pasta & fail with a diet every time I tried to cut it out. Is it ok to eat pasta on a low calorie diet as long as i keep within the recomended daily calorie intake?

There is some information on this site that may help you:

I guess I would try to find low calorie recipes for pasta dishes and not go overboard like everything else, watch your serving size, etc.
I still eat breads, I just make sure they are whole grain and only what I am "allowed" for the day.
Good luck to you!

Atkins,
If you are going to have pasta as part of your nutrition program, you should stay away from bleached and refined sugars and flours, as are found in most pastas. You can avoid this by using wheat pasta and brown rice in place of standard pasta. In addition, the complex carbs in those types of products are not only healthy, but increase your body's energy output that it takes to digest the food. This is called the "thermic effect of food".
