I guess I'm the only one that eats pasta. Can someone explain what the difference is between semolina, durum, whole wheat flour, etc. I usually eat pasta and sauce 1-3 times per week and I was just wondering what would be best.

whole wheat flour is going to be your healthiest chioce if you go witha wheat pasta, which, i think, all of the above are. It is just more nutrient dense, less processed.
Egg noodles are generally made with white flour, it ain't the eggs ya got to watch, its those refined flours and sugars. I don't eat them. I personally don't eat much pasta, but when I do i like the protein power brown rice pasta, it comes in curly spirals and isn't too bad for taste. Especially with a good, garlicky pasta sauce.MMM This sounds gross, but its not, when I crave pasta or pizza, I scramble eggs with lowfat mozarella and spaghetti sauce, it is better than it sounds. -------------- "To be able to go to the gym and train hard is a joy and a privelege, even though the hard work necessitates driving yourself through considerable discomfort. Thanks, As I said I usually eat 1-3 servings per week. I have been eating whole wheat noodles but sometimes I mix with regular noodles (1/2 and 1/2). I'm gonna have to try your egg mix. Doesn't sound too bad. Where do you get the protein power brown rice pasta?

Hodgson's Mill makes whole wheat macaroni and egg noodles that are good. Also Middle East (I think) makes whole wheat couscous.
I haven't tried the brown rice pastas. Are they less grainy than ww? |

I get the protein power pasta at Nutrition City, but I bet you could find it online, its logo is a little kind of lightning bolt guy with legs, I will try to find the package and see if it has a website.
The rice pasta is a little different texturewise, but I have a high tolerance for odd food. |

I make my own pata. If you have 1 1/2 hrs a week, you can make 5 servings. I use semolina flor, whole wheat flor, all depends what we are in the mood for. And I add my own protein. The kids don't have a clue!-------------- \"A will finds a way\" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

I just found in my pantry last night, a spiral pasta called Kamut. It has 10g of protein per 1/2cup, which is probably why I bought it. I guess I will have to try it this weekend and see how it tastes. It looks like whole wheat pasta in the pkg.-------------- ~Victoria~ ...Do not be discouraged; everyone who got where he is, started where he was.--anon ...There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.--Beverly Sills |

Whey cool Hi-protein brown rice pasta at wheycoolproteinpasta.com is the one I like. There is some new italian brad, that one was just gross.
Maybe earthworms with pasta sauce would be a good high protein substitute (and cheap, too!)(Nature's bounty is all around:big_smile:) -------------- "To be able to go to the gym and train hard is a joy and a privelege, even though the hard work necessitates driving yourself through considerable discomfort. Unfortunately, here in Hungary everything which is healthy (such as whole-wheat pasta) is very expensive, and although i buy it sometimes, I usually buy durum pasta. I heard it's healthy because it's eggless but otherwise is it a good choice?

durum is just a type of wheat, and pasta is fine as long as you eat it in moderation. Your situation, you can't be picky.
Just stay within your calorie amounts and wheat pasta can fit into almost any nutrtional plan. -------------- "To be able to go to the gym and train hard is a joy and a privelege, even though the hard work necessitates driving yourself through considerable discomfort.
