Hi all! I need some help here. One of my sisters has a rare form of PCOS. By rare, it is less severe than other forms of the disorder. For instance, is not fat all over and she thankfully doesn't have excess body hair. She is however bigger through her shoulders and arms and has some tummy bloat/fat from the disorder. The doctor said that even though she doesn't have the worst form of the disorder, she still has too much testosterone in her system. He recommended that she go on the pill, but she is afraid to due to a heart valve issue. So, that's out of the question.

Anyway, to the question, everytime she lifts weights to try to get rid of the fat on her upper arms and shoulders, she bulks up like a body builder! I think that is due to the excess testosterone. We all try to reassure her and tell her that it's the next big trend, but she isn't convinced. She is seriously upset and doesn't have the money to get a personal trainer to help her. The doctor isn't much help in this area either. Any suggestions would mean so much to us both! Thanks!

Have her try metforman(spelling is not right) and or clomid. My wife has PCOS and used that for some good results. ALso the pill may be the only option she has.. as to the bulking I think it is due to the fact hse has fat there and her muscles are growing. It really takes a lot of Male Hormones to have her bulk like a male will.

Thanks 7707! I will definately tell her to check out those medicines! She'll probably kill me for this, but you're right, she does have a bit of "thickness" there! How should she get rid of it?

Thanks again!
