Hi All,

I'm 5ft 4 and 136 lbs (29yo). I've gained about 12 pounds in the last year and have been trying desperately to lose it. Motivation is not a problem, but NOTHING is working. For the past three weeks, I've eaten a diet consisting entirely of:

Turkey, Chicken, and fish
Lowfat cottage cheese, plain nonfat yogurt, egg whites
Fruit and Vegetables (but not really sugary or starchy ones)
Oat Bran or whole bran flakes
Almonds, Natural PB and Avocado in very small quantities
TONS of water

Most of my diet is lean protein, fruit and veggies. I eat 5 meals, spaced every three hours, and I estimate that I am getting between 1400 and 1500 cal per day. I eat no junk, no preservatives, nothing with added sugar, and I work out 6 days a week. (Usually 45 min weights and 30-45 cardio).

Not a pound has budged in three weeks, but I can't believe I have to work this hard just to MAINTAIN a weight that I'm not happy with. Am I still eating too much? Am I eating too little? Can anyone help?? Thanks.

3 weeks isn't long enough to see much results... it takes time to obtain your goals. First suggestion- toss the scale. It is more of a distraction than help.

Also if you are drinking tons of water... Are you eating a lot of salts? If so that may cause you to retain a lot of water weight... :)

On the other hand water does help you lose weight though.. Make sure you don't drink soft drinks, just drink water. But was sbroyhill said don't drink too much water due to water weight.

In my first week or 2 from dropping soda's and drinking a gallon of water I actually went up in weight by 5 lbs. It abruptly dropped off about 3 weeks into it as soon as my body realised it was safe to use it. Otherwise...I didn't see a lot of lose in the first month. However now a little over 2 months later I've dropped 13 lbs.

As long as you're eating right and cutting calories then keep with it and it'll happen.

Hey Kgersimon....I'm in the EXACT same boat as you! I am 127lbs, 5ft 2" and am 24yrs old and I share your frustration.
I moved to Korea for my job and so I've been hitting the gym more and I've totally have changed my diet too. I've been working out for about a month now and.....NOTHING. So don't think you're alone. I'm actually relieved to here your concern and so I thank you for you sharing your disappointment.
I think the key here to it all is dedication and consistancy. Stick with it even though it's disappointing.....I'm with ya on this one. I love working out but ya, it's hard to not want to be eager with seeing results.
Keep me posted with how you're doing and I'm SURE you'll see some results, just be patient....that's a lesson I'm trying to learn too.
