Today was my first day of training. It was great! I'm not sure if I was supposed to feel like passing out after, but I like that I was able to push myself. I did most of my target reps. The only thing that is completely a mystery to me is the backward pull up thingys for your back. I think they're called chin ups between chairs. Since I'm doing the home training thing I had to use a broom stick and two chairs. This is my question. Does my butt and legs come up with each rep or is it just my upper body. The only way i was able to do it was the second way, but it felt kinda like an assisted sit up.

What do you mean by passing out. Sleep or literally passing out? You probably overexerted yourself considering this is the first day. This will pass as you become more conditioned to working out.

Think about the exercise like an upside down push up. I believe that you should try to keep your body strait and in the top position only your feet should be touching the ground.

Also, please stop using all caps in the title of your posts. While I don't personally don't care, it bothers some people. Plus, it isn't going to make your post anymore important than others.

Welcome to the board BA. You could try the Aztec diet but it involves human sacrifice and a little cannibalism.

Tuin, I've been reading books about the Aztecs lately. Easily the most fascinating culture I've ever read about.

yeah, those cultures are really something... try the maya's too... good movie that from Mel Gibson (apocalypto), it is nice to see how those guys actually lived and the traditions and all... i have heard it is not very accurate chronologically speaking but that most of it seems to be the real thing

When I finish with these, I'll work my way through the Maya and Inca. I never knew free enterprise was alive and well back then. Also but for a bit of tin and copper for bronze they would probably be thriving today.

Whenever you have a chance, try visiting some ruins here in Mexico, you will be really amazed Charly... really interesting to learn more about these guys

It's on our trip list for this or the next boat. I may have to trade into a motorsailer if fuel doesn't quit going nuts. Been there a few times but never long enough to see it the way I want to.

As a matter of fact, that Mel Gibson movie was very inaccurate. Especially the sacrificing part and the raping and violent stuff.

Back to your original question....

As far as feeling like you are gonna pass out - breath!

I do the chin=ups with my body held in a tight plank - recruit your abs, glutes, every muscle needs to be tight, then balance on your heels and pull yourself toward the bar. You will get less reps, but you will feel it more.

I don't think anyone really knows how accurate or naccurate Apocalypto was... every old civiliation had sacrficial rites, many had cannabalistic tendencies and most, if not all, attacked, raped, pillaged and enslaved their neighboring tribes.

I agree with you asimmer, it was just some casual chat between charlie and me about those cultures, didnt want to start a discussion about the reliability of the film

Not to derail the thread topic, but the most fascinating place I've been to was in Mexico, the Mayan ruins at Chitzen Itza, during their spring equinox celebration. Had a tour guide that was a grad student in cultural anthropology, great stuff.

The rest of the trip was horrible, but that day was fantastic :)

It's all very interesting. Your opinions are well appreciated. I just want to chat too!

Hey Asimmer, thanks for the advice. I have another question. This is my second week and I don't feel as sore anymore. Is that okay? I've heard about certain programs that surprise your muscles and they seem to work faster. What do you think? Should I stick with what this site is telling me to do or should I put extra exercises in there. Don't get me wrong, I'm still exhausted at the end of the workout

Here is some neat things: There is growing evidence that the peoples of Mexico and South America are from many differnt ethnic sources.....some from Norht america (the traditional thought of the populating of NA, mexico and SA is thru the bering strait and land bridge about 13-15000 years ago), but now we are finding direct evidence from china and japan and even the south pacific as well as maybe from Europe as well. SOme sites now date to 20,000 -40,000 years ago. They are finding older civilizations in Peru, and Mexico and places in south and central america. that Pre date the Inca and Mayan and Aztec buy hundreds even thousands of years.....

Do the program as it dictates - you won't usually get as sore as you do from the first week of a new routine. If you get to a point where you aren't feeling like it is making you work hard enough, find ways to add resistance (hold a book, cans, water jugs, etc), slow down your execution of the movements, add additional reps/sets.... but for now just follow the plan and enjoy it :)

I LOST 5 MORE POUNDS!!! I'm happy.

Anyways, thanks for the tip Asimmer. Do you know if the exercise plan ever changes. So far they're staying with the same exercises for the next two weeks. I really hurt myself on Friday. I think I overexerted myself. Since I wasn't feeling sore, I asked my cousins boyfriend what I could do to make it hurt more. The only thing I did different was the diamond push ups inclined. I ended not even finishing my workout. I got a really bad migrane. I'm also hypoglycemic so I don't know if it was that I had no food in my system, but I work out in the morning. Any input? Anyone?
