I noticed that pork tenderloin, or any pork products for that matter, are not listed in the "grocery list for healthy eating". I know that many of the pork products are high in fat, but 3oz of pork tenderloin, with fat removed comes in at 139cal 4gF/0C/24gP, which looks similar to a chicken breast. I like to have this on occation, marinated and grilled, as a change from chicken--you know, the other white meat. Is there something I'm missing and should be avoiding pork tenderloin if I'm dieting?

You ever seen Charlottes Web...they're so cute...why would you want to eat em.:big_smile:
Actually I've always wondered the same thing about Pork products. Why does the other white meat get no love?

Ya, but what about chicken little and Finding Nemo...so much for chicken and fish....at least cows are just stupid so I guess it's OK to eat beef ...except for maybe princesses "wee hairy coo"(jk for the animal activists out there)! I think BB1 made the list originally, maybe he was protecting the pigs:laugh:

Yea there's never been a cartoon with a cow has there? Geez...those cows are just treated like pieces of meat.
Then there's Bambi! Which tastes good...and one of the best meats for you, but it's not on there either.

Yes...Venison = Bambi
I don't remember seeing it on there...guess I need to take a look and refresh my memory.

Soooo...back to the original question...any problem with pork tenderloin as a lean source of protien?

That list was originally in muscle and fitness, I think. i am pretty sure they were going with the most common foods - if a protein source is lean, go ahead. Venison, buffalo, ostrich, pork tenderloin are all okay as long as they fit into your dietary plan.
I love pork tenderloin....

I eat pork as a change from chicken or beef. very good and no contradiction to our diets. Especially a good lean pork roast or souvlaki!!
