run....run...run some more....ever see Forrest Gump? well...run....little by little...increase distance each time or intensity(how fast you run a distance).....at 12...you should be trying to get as physically active as possible...join sport teams...
try to eat whole foods....non-greasy, non-fried....focus on things you can boil or grill(but don't burn the food) or microwave.......drink gallon of water.....don't eat junk food....including pizza, burgers, hot dogs, candy, fried foods, sodas, juices, etc.....

here here, your sooo right menace
running, doing pushups and situps is the best way to get into shape.
but at 12 i would not recommend drinking a gallon of water,
being that young you could actually "flood" your system, and lead to bad stuff. i have seen it happen to grown men, who were not used to drinking that much water.
so at 12 i would say not to do that, but build up to drinking a gallon a day.

flood your system? id think your body would take in what it can absorb and excrete the rest.. if you spread it out evenly over the day, you should be golden

bropie, drinking too much water at a young age could actually kill you.
i am in the military and it has happened three times since i have been in.
people are not used to drinking alot of water especially if they are not in good shape will cause your body to absorb too much and ultinmately lead to death.
if someone is not in good shape they tend to try to down as much water as possible due to the heat and sweat, if too much water is taken in over a long period of time
this in turn causes their organs to "flood"
yes a gallon a day for body builders is expected but not for a 12 year old kid!

I know this is a kind of old post but.....
When I lost my 1st 30 pounds, I didn't use any videos. I starting out walking. Then I did 3 sets of squats ( 1 set feet close, next set shoulder length, and last set wide). Squats were limited to whatever I could do in a minute per set. After that I did 3 sets of pushups (the same way as squats). Lastly, I did crunches, twisting crunches, leg lifts, and dual crunches.
Of course as time when on I started walking / jogging, increased how long I did my cardio, was able to do more reps in my exercises.
Then I messed up my routine by starting videos. I gained more stamina doing them but my weight loss progress slowed down.
This may be too many exercises for you. Try to get more exercise participating in some activity during lunch/recess. Your doctor can actually help you get your diet in order for you also. Find out what the recommended weight is for your height also so you'll know what to shoot for.
