Whats the difference between preacher & hammer curls??? I always thought they were the same thing? Do they isolate the same part of the bicep? Apparantely I have been doing hammer curls, thinking they were preacher curls :(

Preacher curls are where you use a specific bench seat and you can do either BB or DB curls. Your upper arms are placed on the rest and you perform your sets, it isolates the bicep muscles giving you a better work-out. Hammer curls are like normal curls using a DB only your palms face inwards. Again good exercise which works your muscles that little bit different from normal db curls.

Preacher curls is the exercise where you curl at about a 45 degree angle. T-babe, gave a good description.

also the pretcher curl is known to help lengthen the biceps, going full range.....soposly I think.
The incline plane helps you relax your arm and shoulders, and put more emphasis on the biceps. However don't throw your self on top of it like a deer on a car hood. You want the top of pad to be in your armspits, but at a height at which you shoulders are fairly relaxed

Thanks guys. Funny I've been doing hammer curls thinking they were preacher curls, and doing preacher curls thinking they were just another form of bicep curls. So either way I have been doing preacher curls. Glad I have cleared that up :laugh:
