I have seen some very shady posts on this forum regarding all aspects of training. You should only post your advice if you are 100% sure that what you are posting is legitimate professional advice. Remember, there will be at least 1 person that will follow the advice posted here and if it is the wrong advice they will get hurt. Please research what it is you believe to be true. Two ways to research:
1) DO it yourself for an extended period of time to make sure there is no negative accumulative effects.
2) Look it up in the research (I don't just mean some website where the people just post their opinions without justification.

From now on if I read something I know is incorrect I am going to call you out and embarass you on this forum.

If I know what I post is true, I post it. I try to always make it clear if one of my posts is just an opinion or if I am not sure. I still post these though, because otherwise you sometimes see posts unanswered and I worry people think we are not helpful here.
I have sometimes spent a long time trying to search medline or similar to make sure my posts are correct.

Good to have you back, Gator. Feel free to call me out anytime I post misguidance. I try to only post stuff I know to be true.

Good post. Posts in this forum should also strictly relate to strength & power training (ie. performance oriented, functional training), not nonsense like 'how do I make my calves bigger?' or 'how do I lose my butt?' and other such nonsense.

And yeah, if I post anything that's questionable feel free to call me on it.

That was an excellent post gator, maybe one of the best I have ever read. You should be able to substantiate your claims in some sort of fashion. You are 100% correct, someone will surely get on here and read a misinformative post and unwittingly follow it.

On a side note on this post, i would like to encourage others not to be afraid of posting for fear of humiliation. Anyone that is a member is more than welcome to post with a question or a request to discuss something, but remember. If you have heard something, in a gym, or in a magazine article, etc, do not hesitate to bring it up for discussion in order to find out if it is reliable and whether it really works, but please, dont tell someone how to do something if you really haven't learned the right way yet. Questions are encouraged, thats how we learn, and suggestions are welcome, as long as they can be backed up. But don't give advice your unsure of.

I am all for questions. What I am not for is untested, shady advice. I think we are all on the same page here. As fitness professionals it is our job to help noobies wade through the massive amount of crap in our industry. And there is a ton of it! This thread was not meant to scare or discourage questions or opinions. It was meant to make people really think about what they are posting. The internet has made it possible for anyone to post an opinion, good or bad, and that is all I am saying here. Wrestler, appreciate you.

Very well said.

Just remember to do lots of cardio before lifting and never eat to much protein.
