There is alot of discussion regarding protein supplements and from what I have read and my limited experience it certainly makes sense. Personally, I find it difficult to meet my protein requirements without it. If my understanding is correct (and it may not be) protein types- whey, cassein, soy, etc.-are beneficial primarily due to their absorption rates with whey being absorbed the fastest and therefore better for post workout and other types with slower absorption rates better for other times during the day. That certainly makes sense to me. Here's my dilemma-I've got a 5lb tub of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey (my second one, you would have thought I was unwrapping my Christmas present when I got it) and, according to the wife (I love her to death), that's all the 'whey' I'm gonna get this month if I buy any more, again this month, if you get my drift. Can you mix the whey with something that slows the absorption rate in order to make it suitable throughout the day? OR does it really matter in the long run? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, just have it with a meal. It will act more like amino acids and help improve the "quality" of your whole food meals. Or if you just want it alone as a shake, you can mix almost any fats with it, peanut butter for example is great, flax oil, heavy cream(if calories are not a problem), etc. Just do not take it alone on an empty stomach, it will go pretty much to waste(energy substrates for instance instead of muscle building).
-------------- Great people never want it easier, they just want to be better!
