Protein bars are better than the average junk food product in an emergency. Can't say I don't like them, but don't use them as a permanent supplement. Use a protein shake after training and eat good food with natural sources of protein.

I snuck one into a movie last night.. much cheaper than concession food and likely better for you than the popcorn. However, I wouldn't wanna make them a supplement to a meal. Good emergency food, though.

So, you should eat as few protein bars as possible. They are good for curbing the occasional sweet craving (that you get, say once a month or so), but they are highly processed so more closely related to junk food than real food.

I use them as a stopgap from starving or eating crap.

I get sweet cravings more than once a month. (My sweet tooth has been raging the last 2 months) I have some strategically placed so I don't resort to crap.
Bottom line is yor end up replacing good food for something highly concentrated.
