Does the protein contained in beans (pinto beans in particular) count towards daily protein totals or must it come from animal products to be effective in muscle growth?
I know its probably a naive question but need a definitive answer nonetheless.
Many thanks

I think you could count it towards your daily totals - it is incomplete on its own, but combines in your system with other aminos to form complete protein.

Thank you much!
That is what I wanted to hear since I use beans 2 - 3 times a week to meet both my carb and protein requirements.

Yeah, I count it also. One of the very few vegetarian sources I do count though.

Also glad to hear it.
I count it as both too but rely on it mainly as a carb source.
