As you know, they say to get about 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. A few questions here:
Question 1:
Let's say I'm 230, would this mean I should get 230 grams of protien. Should I only get a portion of that from suppliments, and the rest from the food I eat? Or, should I NOT count the protein from regular foods and just make sure I get 230 grams from the suppliments?
Question 2:
Let's say I'm 230 lbs, but I really should be 215. Unfortunately, I have a good amount of both musscle and fat. If I want to keep gaining musscle and loose some fat (let's assume we all agree that's possible), should I take the amount of protein needed for my ideal weight (215), or should I be taking the amount reflecting my current weight (230)?
Thanks for any help!

I will answer both questions at the same time, ok?
If you are exercising regularly, then 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight is the way to go. Try and get the protein from real food. Supplements are "in addition to" your regular diet. So if you can chew up 230grms of protein in a day, you don't need to supplement. Hope this helps.

Yeah, the only time you really NEED a supplemental protein intake is post workout. That is not to say a nice chocolate shake won't taste good any other time. But whole food is the way to go except post workout.
Now, if trying to lose fat as you say, your protein needs are going to increase above that 1 gr. per lb.

bbf1fit,
when trying to lose body fat, do you recommend lowering the amount of fat grams a day or lowering your carb intake. I would think you would want to lower the fat grams so that your energy levels don't die due to lack of carbs. Or, would you suggest simply lowering a combination of fat grams and carb grams and obviously keeping your protein high to preserve muscle?

Increase fats and proteins, lower carbs.
