I used to use a protein powder that was 100% Whey protein and I noticed I gained weight, about 10 pds even though I worked out 3-4 times a week doing weight training and then cardio. So I posted a question about my powder and someone responded that I was using the wrong kind and I should get a mix/blend. So I bought new stuff. ON's (Optimum Nutritions Pro Complex) I only use it after a workout. But I still have not seen any weightloss. I am not a body builder by any means. Should I just stop taking this powder mix all together? Do I need it? I eat healthy all week long and on the weekends I do splurge.

You should take the 100% whey as your post workout drink due to it being fast absorbing. I have been taking it for the past year and have lost weight so it may not be the protein. You may want to look at other items in your diet.

atiger - pro complex is a 100% whey. it's a isolate/concentrate blend that has glutamine and aminogen.

vegas - 2 things: what are you mixing your powder with? don't mix anything post-workout with anything but water, otherwise the protien absorption will slow down.

second, the weekend splurging is probably what's doing you in. your body might not be able to handle metabolizing all of the stuff you wouldn't normally eat. i'd re-evaluate how you're making your weekend food decisions and see what happens.

don't stop taking the whey after you work out. post-workout nutrition is vital to the maintenance of muscle mass, which is where the speed of your metabolism is determined. don't neglect your muscles after you lift! seriously though, keep up the protien and cut back on the splurging and i'll bet you see a difference.

is this good 10lbs or bad 10lbs........if its muscle hey leave it be......like howdie said, take it with water, milk ats carbs and suger wich are ok but the lactose slows digestion down, try drink only half a scoop or so, your protein in take shouldn't be as high as mine, and I usually take 1 1/2 scoops. Try 3/4s or so........but yea if your gonna work out on weekends, keep the splurging to a mim, I feel like shit after I eat bad food, my workouts suck.

Big Andrew....
I do what the container says... two scoops. So maybe I should only do 3/4 of one?

Thanks...

I read here and subscribe to the 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. It has worked for me.

Also be a lable reader. It will tell you the P/C/F content as well as the sugar. I went so far as to measure the scoop against a cup measure. Scoop sizes vary!! After you do it for a while it becomes second nature. I'm with howdie, stick with the postworkout protein. If its your only supplement of the day it's the one I'd pick. I do manage to scarf down 220 to 300 grams of protein a day andI only use the post workout and a breakfast shake that is mostly egg whites and oatmeal.

vegas, i use a scoop and a half when i take my shake - i'm 6'0, 170lbs. i'm guessing you're not as big as i am so i'd take 1 level scoop. the actual "serving size" for pro complex is 2 heaping scoops, so 1 level scoop should be a little less than 1/2 a serving.

try this and see what happens - also, when you drink your shake, chug half of it immediately and sip on the rest for as long as you can drag it out.
