Why are some protein powders considered inferior even though they have more protein in them? For example, SciTech's Whey Best is 80 calories per 20 grams of protein, and is considered crap; while Beverly International's Ultra Size is 120 calories and only 17 grams of protein, and is considered one of the best. It seems like I'm just getting a lot more calories and a lot less protein with Beverly's Ultra Size...

Can someone explain this to me?

Quality...this is the issue. For instance, the higher the hydrolosate, the better the protein. Hydrolyzed Whey is
partially digested protein. This hydrolyzing
process splits proteins in to smaller chain peptides and
amino acids, di and tri peptides. This makes the
end product more biologically accessible to the user.
Cheaper ingredients lead to more "yeild", but but less quality, so it is realy malabsorbed. Some proteins may boast something like 90% hydrolosates, but this is misleading and false at best. First you would not be able to stand the taste of it. And how they get by with it is simply this....one ounce of their entire protein in the bucket may be 90% hydrolosate, and therefore make the claim contains 90% hydrolosate. Pretty sneaky. Beverlys ultrra size is awesome stuff. With it you get a unique blend of proteins unnmatched, plus it contains healthy fats. It is more of a "MRP" that is customizable through scoops by bodyweight though than a post workout protein.

So I really may be better off drinking a protein shake that may be higher in calories and lower in protein? Because Beverly's Ultra Size would sure add up in calories for me to get sufficient protein per serving (I'd need two scoops just to get 34 grams of protein).
