How do you guys mix your protein shakes? I have the GNC whey protein...vanilla flavor and I mixed it with water earlier and the taste was awful. I would rather drink straight whiskey than that stuff. Can I blend up some banana and orange then mix the protein with that, or would that be a bad thing? I take two a day, the first one is 30 minutes after I work out, and I know I shouldn't mix the fruit with that one, but what about mixing the fruit with the one that I take later in the day? Or if anyone has any good suggestions to mixing one I am all ears.

Just got to thinking maybe it would be better to take a protein shake in the morning with breakfast and then take one a half hour after I work out...that would be around 3:30-4 in the afternoon.

frozen berries and some milk! not as many carbs as 'nanas and the fact that they're frozen makes for a pretty good texture :) i'll sometimes throw in some nf plain (not vanilla!) yogurt instead of milk.

I'm not too fond of the water mix also - Sometimes I will combine the powder with some frozen yogurt and a little 1% milk in a blender. Tastes kind of like a "Wendy's" frosty - really good - and I don't feel as if I am cheating too much.

FYI: 1/2 cup frozen Yogurt=

Quoting from beau80:

I mix, in a blender, mine with 8 oz skim milk, 1/3 cup dry skim milk, 8 oz plain yoghurt, half a banana, three or four frozen strawberries. Half a cup of low fat cottage cheese it good too. You can add or subtract, depending on the amount of carbs and protein you want.

i use EAS Simply Whey Protein in Choclate, and it is real yummy! love it! tastes just like a milkshake to me. when im using it with water i throw in an apple, and it helps. but i usually use skim milk. its more expensive that a generic brand, but iv tried a few different kinds and for me this one is the tastiest.
