Hey how's it going everyone, I have been using protein shakes since my sophomore year in highschool, and now am i freshmen in highschool, I just turned 18 on July 25. Anyway I have been Using MEGA WHEY from GNC for about a year and a half, I have a moderately bad pimple problem, I clean my face all the time, use all those astringents and pads, and even take pills that my parents gave me. They think that taking that shake has given me this problem. I workout alot, and eat alot but healthy and limit my sugars, sweets, and fats. And I drink atleast 1 gallon of water per day. So the past month I haven't even used that shake, just bars and I still have a fricking zit problem.
Any suggestions???????????????? HELP!!!!!!!???????//

Sounds like it may be time to go see a dermatologist...

I highly doubt it's the shake, but I'm not a dermotoligists. At your age, you may be experiencing an acne called vulgaris. Basically you have acne due to your natural hormones if you are having that much trouble getting rid of them (extra oils being secreted). Although you could be the type in which the acne worsens from eating certain things.

Here's the rundown. Your acne is caused by an abundance of oil being secreted by the glands in your face/neck/shoulder..etc. This along with bacteria and dead skin causes the acne to begin with. So you need to one see a dermotologist and second (which they will tell you) you need to keep your hair clean and out of your face, don't touch your face, keep your hands clean incase you do, change the towel/wash clothe daily, and basically lower the chances of bacteria getting on your face. Without the bacteria and dead skin you will increase your chances of getting rid of the acne (plus the cream the dermo will give you). Otherwise only time will get rid of them as your hormones level out.

don't lean your hands against yoru face during class, oil from heands gets on your face, and try not whiping your face with your hands when you work out. Keep a towl, or use you shirt, if its not to wet.

At 18, your acne is most probably being activated by your hormones Gowar.

It is possible that your shake and maybe something else you are eating are aggrivating the condition, but it is doubtful that they are causing it unless you have some sort of food allergy.

The above reccommendations are good ones, a trip to the dematologist is an especially good idea. He/She will be able to point you in the right direction as to why this is happening and your options to battle it.

I will add that you should also find a reputable skin care salon and see an esthetician, get a few really good corrective facials and follow the home regimine that they reccommend. It can be expensive, but what you do to care for the acne now, will have a major effect on your skin later in life.

last year i was breaking out and went to see the dermatologist and asked him the exact same question...if i was breaking out due to my protein shakes. he said no, that it was not very likely at all. i didnt think it was possible to begin with due to the ingrediants in it, but it was just satisfying hereing him agreeing with me.
