Is there any reason a protein shake would be better than a protein bar, assuming each delivered the same type and ammount of protein?

You'll find that protein shakes have much more nutritional value for you than the standard "protein bar". If you've ever looked at the nutritional label on most protein bars, most are not much better for you than an average candy bar.
Stick with protein shake mixes unless you're in a bind & have no other options, then occasionally you can find a MRP bar.

One more detail when looking for protein shake powders, select "aspartame-free".

protein shake - liquid
protein bar - solid
shakes will get absorbed quicker since it's liquid.

They also have a lot to do with convinience. Picture this going to work with a couple thermoses full of protein shakes, or going to work with a couple protein bars. As far as protein bars go You get what you pay for.

I THINK the bars have a lot more sugar in them too. Although I haven't had one in a long time. Most of the time when I had a protein bar they seemed dry and not really that great while the protein shakes I have mixed with milk seem a lot more tolerable. Although I’ve let people try them before and they think their horrible. I suppose it’s just an acquired taste?

Only the dedicated lifter can withstand a good protein bar let alone a bad one....dont believe me just ask Grandma if she would like a nice serving of GNC's latest Cookies & Cream Protein Bar. Bon Appetite Grandma. Yes, fireloard I agree completely, it is an acquired taste. Maybe nutcase taste would be a better term what do you think?

I really like the bars and the shakes but then again I love my orange flavored fish oil, too.
Everyone in my family gave up "trying" my snacks long ago...
