I was wondering im trying to lose like 25lbs, people are telling me to drink proteing shakes...y? Dont proteing shakes make me gain weight? i do cardio now 4-5 days a week 30-45min also weight train in the morning....?
I think if you skip starches and grains for a while and stick with lots of veggies, lean protein and some fruit you'll lose it all in a few months. I lost 27 lbs that way: eating whole foods (not processed/packaged foods), staying off pasta and bread, eating lots of veggies and adding some good fats (mainly flaxseed oil and olive oil). I use fruit mainly for my shakes.
The shakes won't make you gain weight if you use them to replace a meal. I have a whey protein smoothie with fruit for breakgfast a few days a week and for my afternoon snack most days.
