I am so tired today. last night I heard sirens and looked out my bedroom window and saw that my neighbor's house across the street and two doors down was in flames. OMG. My daughter's best friend lives there! 2am, I get dressed, hubby runs outside in boxers (gonna be a lot of help in those boxers, honey, but your heart is in the right place), watching anxiously as the firetrucks keep coming, fire is under control, finally my husband comes back. Thank God they all made it out safely. We brought over all of our extra blankets to wrap up the various family memebrs who were standing around dazed and shivering, and took my daughter's friend to our house to stay warm, get her into socks, a sweat shirt over her pj's.

They sorted out what they were going to do (Red Cross was on the way), so we returned to bed. Doorbell rings - Mrs. Thao needed to use our facilities. Back to bed, doorbell rings, one of the older sons wants to know if we will store some things in our garage.
4 am, no point in going back to bed, made coffee.
Wondered at how quickly things can change. Pray they have decent insurance, thank god they all are safe.
So tired today, I hope they are all somewhere safe and warm, catching up on their sleep before they have to deal with the mess of their house burning.

Not working out today. Just being tired and thankful.

I can tell you from personal experience how scary that is. Our apartment caught fire in 1990. I was asleep on the couch and my mother woke me up in a panicked state. We lived in an apartment on the first floor. The apartment above us was in flames. Luckily our apartment only had water and smoke damage. It could have been a lot worse. Still it was a major inconvenience as we had to evacuate for a few days.

It's weird, eh? How we take things for granted.... I remember we were out one day, came home and our house had been broken into... we had insurance, but still, it ticks you off... you leave, assuming all will be well and come back and your life is different...

I hope that family is okay....

My friends apartment burned down completely a few weeks ago. He was taking the last load of his newly ex-gfs(they had been together for 6 years)stuff to her parents house, and was coming back home for a nice evening with their son, and his entire apartment was engulfed in flames. They lost EVERYTHING! Nothing made it through the fire. Luckly they had renters insurance, and since it happened I have been looking into getting renters insurance too!! :(

Get renter's insurance! It is $11.00 a month and can be a life saver.

Well, I learned the hard way myself. September 18th, the day after Hurricane Isabel went through here, we went home to see if everything was ok. Well it wasn't. We lost everything but ourselves and our cars we had with us. Today, seven months later we are still trying to get back to normal.

I no longer get upset about much anymore because of it. I think, is it worth it. We all have bad days and good ones. Everyday is a good one for me. I had never felt so low untill I turned the corner and seen 3 100 year old oak trees demolish my home like wooden kid blocks.

As long as we wake up everyday, it's a good day for me. Your whole life can be turned upside down in a matter of minutes so I just live for the moment.

Most of my young life was about changes, though I seemed to live in a bubble. About the time I hit 20 my bubble burst, though nothing like my catching fire happend, life did and I started to relize how unsure things were in life. I thank god (maybe not everyday, but alot of the time) to wake up in the morning and to be able to move and have what I have (which isn't much but I have it). I'm gratefull to be able to help others and take pride in what I do and not in myself. What ever I lose physically I gain spiritually and morally and learn to better myself. I wish for everyone's safety (even if they seem not to deserve it, and with some exceptions) and wish all of you well in your daily and overall lives. Godbless to all of you.:dumbbell:
