hi all,
i'm new to supplementation, and have just begun to take PWO shakes, but i'm a little confused. from what i've read, if i weigh 147 lb.s and i'm trying to gain, then i should be having 74 grammes of carbs in my shake, a 50/50 mix of malto and dextrose. is it just me or does 37 grammes of maltodextrin look like a medium size sand dune? i have a 750 ml. shaker, and by the time i've put in the malto, the dextrose, and 37 grammes of whey, the thing is nearly full to the top! there's not much room left for water. can somebody just confirm that i should really be using so much malto and dextrose. it's kinda hard to believe when you see it all in the shaker.

Take your body weight, divide it by 4 and use that much protein powder, do the same with a 50/50 mix of maltodextrin and dextrose which you can find at most health food stores.
Ex: body weight= 160lbs, you would use 40g protein and a mixture of 20g malto/20g dextrose.
After your workout, mix it, drink half, then sip the rest over the mext 30 minutes.
This is all just for examples sake too I should point out. Depending on what your trying to achieve the formula may differ slightly. My best suggestion would be to do heavy research and learn it on your own so it makes the most sense.
Take a minute and fill out your profile also so people know who you are and what your goals are. Good luck to you and welcome to FT!!!

At your body weight you would want 37g protein, 18.5g malto/18.5g dextrose in your PWO shake. And this could even differ depending on what your goals are.
