Ok....Do you have to be diagnosed with bulimia? Or do you automatically have it when you make yourself puke and use laxitives? I'm confused.

If you are making your self throw up and using laxitives, you should see a counselor or a doctor, this is a sign of bulimia!

Bulimia is a "disease" that people get when they intentionally make themselves throw up before they are able to fully digest their food. Bulimia is usually associated with bunging and then purging, but I don't think you need a doctor to tell you that you're bulimic if you work out an hour each day (with excessive exercising being another symptom of bulimia), you eat 5000 calories, and you vomit 4800.
Feel free to ask any more questions! :)

No, you don't have to be diagnosed to have the problem. That's like saying does an alcoholic have to be diagnosed as an alcoholic before he's an alcoholic?
Why do you ask, is something that you're doing leading you to believe that you're bulimic?

I think you answered your own question. Is there really a wonder in your mind if what you are doing is not 'out of the ordinary'?

Just to be more specific....Bulima is actually a disease of binging and purging. The purging can be many different forms...the most common are throwing up, using laxatives and over excercising. As Lyss said...if you are trying to equate or intake with any kind of purging...such as the intake of 5000 calories and trying to purge out 4800 in a immediate manner, and avoiding a natural digestive process...then yes please seek help from your Doctor or a local assistance group. There are plenty of hands out there ...you just need to reach out to grab one.
