I'm 17, 5'8 - 165 pounds. I've just started going to the gym, and I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I'm wondering what kind of protein I should take - be it a bar or powder. I just don't know what kind of supplement I should take in order to gain more muscle. I don't want to get really big, but simply get more toned - my back and arms. Thanks!

You're 17. You should be taking in food.
And what is with people thinking that getting "too big" can happen on accident? Anyone?

Do you expect a protein bar or powder will make you 'too big'? Sounds like you need to do a LOT of reading on this site before you even pick up any iron.

I take Creatine, Protein Shakes and eat lots of Whole Food Proteins and I'll never get TO BIG.
Although I lift to get HUGE I don't Eat to get Huge, I eat just enough to stay right where I am with making small gains.
I do this for 2 reasons, 1 I don't want to get really really big and 2 I want to keep the Body Fat from getting out of hand.
Why the creatine and powder if I'm not trying to get huge?
Recovery, muscle protection, Helps my workouts, I'm not going to eat enough to take in 250 plus grams of Protein in per day
and it's working!

I have gotten to the point to where I am getting around 1.5 grams per body pound of protein, which puts me around 260 grams protein per day. But, when I get back from vacation I am adding creatine to my routine to get more out of my workouts!!
