I'm not sure if I'm in the right room, but here goes anyway. I had a question regarding weight loss and caloric intake. I'm confused by basal calories.
For example, let's say I consumed 1500 calories and worked off about 400 and since in order to lose weight, I need to consume about 1200 calories, does thos mean I'm -100 in the deficit?
All opinions are appreciated.

Depends on your mass and your activity level. Your basal metabolic rate is what you burn just existing (eat, sleep, breathe) not realy what you expend daily or while exercising. i think you have to add some calories above the basal rate to get your daily caloric needs, and then create a deficit from there. But you really only want to lose 1- 2 pounds of bodyfat a week, so that is 3,500 calories less, about 500 a day, i think.. bbfit1, can you elaborate?
