Is 1000 callories a day to little?

yes, your body will go into starvation mode, your bodies metabolism will slow down, so you burn les calories a day. The when you finally do eat more than that, our body willl store it as fat, because it( your body) thinks it needs the fat stores to survive so it stores more. This is very damagining to your body, vitamens and protein( muscle) are lost, bones loose their strength, and you just feel liek crap.

you need to write down everything you eat for one or two weeks, and see if you lost/gained any weight at the end of this period... if so, try again... if not, then calculate how many calories you'd been eating on those days, and that is the amount of calories your body uses to mantain itself... that's how many calories you should be taking (at least) everyday...
and if you wish to lose some weight (or gain), then you just add/take away some calories to that number... this caloric deficit can also be in the form of exercise (or a mixture of both -- less calories and some exercises)... of course, i don't think this is what you asked, but this info should be helpful to you... heh...
